First Ever Gujarati Film to have mega, 4-screen premiere in Mumbai and
Ahmedabad along with a grand 100-screen opening across Gujarat and Mumbai
Mumbai, 06 December 2013: Monopoly
Pictures’ debut feature film Happy Familyy Pvt. Ltd., starring Rajeev
Mehta, Vrajesh Hirjee, Dinesh Hingoo, Shekhar Shukla among others, has probably
create a new record for a Gujarati film’s release with more than 100 multiplex
screens showing it on the day of its release! No Gujarati film in the past has
been released on so many screens across Mumbai and Gujarat, irrespective of
whether it was a typical Gujarati film or a new world venture in the lines of
Kevi Rite Jaish or Saptapadi, an AB Corp. release.
That’s not all! Happy Familyy Pvt. Ltd. has also become the first
ever Gujarati film to have mega premiere both in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The film
premiered in Mumbai on 4 screens of posh Juhu PVR multiplex on December 3,
followed by a fitting premiere in Ahmedabad’s Cinepolis the next day, again on
4 screens! Director Raghuvir Joshi says, “You can attract eyeballs only if you
make yourself visible. Also, a mega premiere always helps a film generate lots
of buzz and anxiety among general viewers. We also wanted our near and dear
ones and the show business fratenrity to watch this film in a cozy atmosphere.
This was the reason we opted for such a mega premiere and we are happy to say
that the gamble has paid off well!”
Speaking about the grand release of Happy Familyy Pvt. Ltd., a
Mumbai based veteran film distributor said, “It is not just unlikely but also
unheard of that a Gujarati film gets released with so many screens and in so
many cities together. A usual trend for a Gujarati film’s release is to open it
in a select few centres, say in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bhavnagar or so, and then, if
the film clicks, it is released in other centres at a later date. However, the
producers of Happy Familyy Pvt. Ltd. have shown not just immense courage
in their product by releasing it simultaneosly in Mumbai, Ahmedabad,
Gandhinagar, Surat, Rajkot, and other smaller centres such as Bharuch, Anand,
Adipur, Himmatnagar, Bhavnagar, Nadiad, Valsad, Sanand, Bhuj, Mehsana and so
on. That’s just incredible for a Gujarati film!”
The response too is very upbeat for the film. The Facebook page of Happy
Familyy Pvt. Ltd. has already created a positive buzz for it days before
its formal release. Its trailer and songs are watched widely on Youtube and at
the same time, are being circulated by Gujaratis, who love their language and
long for revival of their film industry, in a big way. Another positive for the
film is its cast and the genre. Says a leading film prodcuer, “Gujarati
audience for decades has been deprived of seeing lovable faces in their own
films. Though those actors who are regular in Gujarati films are also very
competent and crowd-pullers, an overdose of anything is not done. With Happy
Familyy Pvt. Ltd., starring Rajeev Mehta, Vrajesh Hirjee, Dinesh Hingoo,
Shekhar Shukla, Bhim Vakani, all the veterans who have made a place for
themselves in Hindi films, television soaps, is a welcome change from the usual
cast. The genre of film is humour which again is a less cultivated one as far
as Gujarati films are concerned. All these positive aspects have further added
to the curiosity about the film.”
Happy Familyy Pvt. Ltd. has also become the film with
widest release in Mumbai which is home to lakhs of Gujaratis. From Andheri,
Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali to Ghatkopar to Thane, Bhandup, Sion, Kurla, Juhu,
Vile Parle to Vashi and even town, Happy Familyy Pvt. Ltd. has been
released with a bang in the metropolis on a whopping 17 screens! No other film
including much hyped and liked Kevi Rite Jaish or Amitabh Bachchan’s production
Saptapadi starring Swaroop Sampat and Manav Gohil too had a modest release in
the city!
Speaking about this confidant beginning and a very optimistic view about
his film, producer Anand Doshi said, “Show business always demands a release
with a great fanfare. We have given our blood and sweat in making of this film.
We also know that proper marketing and release can do the trick in film’s
initial success and then, in spreading a positive word of mouth about it. We
are sure that Happy Familyy Pvt. Ltd. will surely hit the right chord
with both old and new generation Gujarati film buffs and so we decided to
release it in as many screens as possible.”
Happy Familyy Pvt. Ltd., a Monopoly Pictures production,
is released across Mumbai and Gujarat on Friday 06 December 2013.
